Dry Cleaning
Dry Cleaning in Trivandrum, for the Pieces You Cannot Replace
Some garments forgive a washing machine. A silk saree, a woollen suit, an embellished lehenga will not. Dry cleaning uses solvent rather than water, so structure, colour and embroidery survive the clean.
Shirts from 139 rupees, two piece suits at 439 rupees, silk sarees at 359 rupees. Full list on the rate card.
What dry cleaning actually does
Dry cleaning is not dry. It replaces water with a liquid solvent that lifts soil and grease without swelling the fibre. Water is what makes wool shrink, silk lose its hand and dye bleed into neighbouring panels. Remove the water and you remove the damage.
That is why it is the correct process for structured tailoring, natural protein fibres and anything with beadwork, zari or applique holding it together.
- Tailoring. Suits, blazers, waistcoats, overcoats and trousers, where canvas and shoulder structure must not relax.
- Protein fibres. Silk, wool, cashmere and pashmina, which felt or shrink in water.
- Ceremonial wear. Bridal lehengas, Kancheepuram sarees, sherwanis and gowns.
- Embellished pieces. Zari, sequins, beadwork and hand embroidery that water loosens.
- Home textiles. Lined curtains, upholstery covers and heavy bedspreads.
How we choose the process for your garment
There is no single dry cleaning method. Each garment is assessed at the counter and routed to the process its fibre and construction call for. We would rather explain why a piece needs a gentler route than return it to you shrunk.
- Hydrocarbon solvent. Our standard route. Gentler on delicate fabric than traditional perchloroethylene, with a longer, cooler cycle.
- Silicone based cleaning. Odourless, biodegradable and kind to skin. Reserved for the most sensitive silks and embellished pieces.
- Professional wet cleaning. Computer controlled water cleaning with biodegradable detergent, for pieces that respond better to water than solvent.
- Hand spotting. Stains are treated individually before the garment enters any machine. This is where most of the skill sits.
What happens to your garment here
Every piece is tagged on arrival and inspected against a written condition note. Anything of high value is photographed at receipt so there is never a dispute about what came in. Existing damage, weak seams and prior stain attempts are recorded and shown to you.
After cleaning, garments are finished by hand, checked a second time, and returned covered. If a stain will not lift, we tell you before we return the piece rather than hoping you will not notice.

Answers
Questions we are asked
Which garments genuinely need dry cleaning rather than washing?
Structured tailoring, silk, wool, cashmere, and anything embellished with zari, beadwork or sequins. If the care label says dry clean only, follow it. If you are unsure, send the piece to us and we will tell you honestly whether it needs solvent or would be better washed.
Can you clean bridal and heirloom pieces?
Yes. Bridal lehengas, Kancheepuram sarees and sherwanis are handled as specialist work, spotted by hand and finished individually. Bridal lehenga dry cleaning is priced at 1,599 rupees and designer sarees at 1,199 rupees on our published rate card.
Are your solvents safe for delicate fabric and for the household?
We use non toxic, biodegradable solvents as our standard rather than the harsher traditional alternatives. They are gentler on protein fibres and leave no residual odour on the garment.
What if a stain does not come out?
We tell you. Some stains, particularly old heat set ones and certain dyes, are permanent by the time they reach us. We will explain what we tried and why it did not lift, and we will not charge you for specialist stain work that failed.
How long does dry cleaning take?
Standard dry cleaning is returned within 48 to 72 hours. Bridal and heavily embellished pieces take longer because they are worked by hand. We give you a date at collection and we keep to it.
